They told me I'd get claustrophobic if I
stayed in my closed room too long,
not having seen open air,
and I laughed right in their faces, my two parents,
for having such a foolish thought.
I've never felt a pint uncomfortable in my room.
So we went to a birthday celebration of a distant relative,
my parents dragging me unwillingly,
and I was annoyed but determined.
Determined to prove them wrong; that I wouldn't leap for joy
at the sight of open air, and crowds of people.
And as I glanced around, surveying the plot of land,
I gulped; never before had I seen so many people
cluttered into one place; rounding to at least fifty.
Something winded in my stomach, coiling like a snake,
and I felt trapped; I felt trapped as I looked at an open field
full of people.

and bring them to my bedside

the moon is shining in the night sky
reflecting light from the nearby
star, I look up at it, up at it
and I sigh
